Stellar cornflower blue wool Emilio Pucci Dirndl skirt, marked size 10, circa early 1960's vintage, so a modern XS- smallish S.
Sold through the 'Saks Fifth Avenue Emilio Pucci Boutique', made in Italy.
Floral print, lightweight wool with a diagonal weave most similar to a gabardine, very soft.
Beautifully detailed flowers in shades of pale greens and blues with off- white detailing, narrow black boarder lines for contrast and pop throughout.
Signed 'Emilio' in the stylized font throughout, in the larger sized flowers.
1.75' wide waistband with snap and hook closures hidden beneath a tab, hidden metal zip up the back center.
The zipper is hand sewn into place, the intricate gathers just under the waistband are hand sewn- backed in pink and white gingham fabric (see photos).
The waistband is lined in bright aqua blue silk, as are the on seam slash pockets on both hips.
The hand- sewn gathers open into soft pleats and the skirt widens to the full hem, fall to below the knees.
Curved edge white lace interior hem, machined finish.
In excellent vintage condition- after very close inspection, I see one brown dot on the front right upper thigh, my camera could not pick this up.
Otherwise flawless, no holes, snags, nips, odors, damage, fading, quite possibly unworn.
A truly stellar vintage Pucci skirt, an unusual print and in wool, still breathtaking even after 40+ years- this gem would be a wonderful addition to any collection!
